Coincidentally enough, hours after Praise of Folly came on line, a nice review of Keen Eddie appeared on National Review Online.
His point about Eddie being the still, sane center of a mad, mad world is well stated. As is his appreciation of the sexy, smart Sienna Miller. One envies Jude Law, if Miss Miller is anything like her on-screen persona.
One question, not raised here, nor anywhere in the press I've seen is this guy's contention that Eddie's premise is derived from a short-lived 1985 New-York-cop-out-of-water-in-London show called Dempsey & Makepeace. Premises have clearly been borrowed since Shakespeare, but Erasmus finds it interesting that it may have taken inspiration from a relatively recent show. Of course, Erasmus feels exceedingly old while pondernig the fact that children born during said show's intial run can now vote.
Recent is relative.
